Hi I’m Matt!
I'm originally from Connecticut, in what some would call the middle of the wilderness. My town actually had no stoplights—not even one. Intersections were a bit unconventional. Not in the charming European-roundabout sense; we just had stop signs. Are you thrilled yet?
I went to a small liberal arts college in upstate New York with dreams of becoming a Mechanical Engineer. Naturally, I switched to Theatre and Film almost immediately. You can practically hear the crowd asking, "What job are you going to get with a theatre degree?"
While learning lines and studying subtext, I was also a competitive diver (not scuba). After graduation, I coached a Division I diving program while earning my Master's in Media Management. Later, at Droga5, I was fortunate to learn from incredible producers and mentors who helped shape the way I approach creative work.
Looking back, each chapter taught me something I use every day. Engineering taught me the value of well-designed systems and processes. Diving and coaching taught me how to adapt quickly, absorb feedback in real time, and lead under pressure. My Master's gave me a strategic understanding of the media landscape and a healthy respect for legal risk management. Theatre and film taught me the most crucial lesson of all: people connect through storytelling.
Most importantly, my parents deserve credit for my optimism and positive attitude toward just about everything.
And as for growing up without stoplights? It taught me that stop signs are sometimes more of a suggestion than a rule.
